Hello fellow snowmobilers. Hoping everyone is staying safe and doing well as we deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. The stay at home order forced the cancelation of our regular club meeting on April 6th. We certainly missed gathering together as a club. So that club business could continue the club Board met via Zoom on the regular meeting night. Nine Board members and Officers attended the meeting. The Zoom format worked out well and allow business to be conducted.
Club membership stands at 138, a little down from last year so it was decided to try a snail mail membership drive in conjunction with our Fall Picnic, Show and Sled Giveaway. Stay tuned for more details on that event. If you haven’t renewed your membership or haven’t joined the club, it’s not too late to do so. Club work continues in preparation for next year. We hoping that the big snow will finally be back, it’s about time.
Trail work continues on the four trails the club is working on. Additional work was done on the Historic Stage Coach section of the Prince Gallitzin Black Moshanon Connector Trail. Work continues on the Round the Park Trail at Prince Gallitzin State Park. Progress has been slowed down due to the reduced staffing at the park but work continues. Thanks to a generous donation we have secured two bridges for the trail. The bridges still need prepped and move to their location on the trail but thanks to volunteers the bridges have been moved to park property. Spring cleanup has been done at our trail railroad crossing. Other trail work and planning has been curtailed due to the current crisis. Also discussed was an ATV Groups efforts to establish some new trails in the area.
The PSSA report included the delay of the Spring Meeting and Drawing. It was also mentioned that PSSA was planning some open forums on topics important to Pennsylvania snowmobilers. And watch for our club articles in the Keystone Snowmobiler.
Just a reminder to check us out on FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/GLSMClub/ Or check out our Group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/864367483745347/ Club membership applications and maps can be found on the Group page.
Please join us for our next open meeting on June 8th when we meet again at the newly remodeled social room at Patton’s Sportsmen’s Club, hopefully we’ll be allowed to gather together by then . The meeting begins at 7:30 but many club members and their families come early to enjoy the great food at the club. Any club business that needs immediate attention should be presented to a Board member or Officer before the Board meeting on May 4th.
Our Club is located in south central PA, about 1.5 hours east of the Laurel Highlands and about 45 minutes west of Black Moshanon State Park. We’re not far from Ebensburg and Altoona. If you’re from this area or ride in this area, we urge you to join our club. We meet the first Monday of the month, year round at 7:30 PM at the Patton Sportsman’s Club. We have a great time at our Club Meetings. We take care of business, enjoy some great food if you’re hungry, and swap some real good sled stories. Come join us.
