Matt Beaver, the PA DCNR District Forest Manager for the RB Winter Area was recently presented the 2021 PSSA Gov’t Official Award. Matt was instrumental in assisting the Bald Eagle SMC with establishing a new and safer trail to Boomerang’s restaurant.
Matt is a long-time friend of PSSA and helped get this trail completed. His picture appears on the pasnow.org website. Thank you Matt.
Current PSSA Award nominees should be sent to Rich Hayes, Vice-President of PSSA.
Lori Elliott, Grant Administrator, recently completed the change of scope for Round 20. The new scope includes trail cameras for clubs. Lori will be sending clubs information in the near future. If you have a location that will support a camera for trail information please complete the application and return it to Lori.
Representatives of the Trails Committee recently met with DCNR personnel. Members presented their research on trails on state land (groomer gps units, safety classes, plowing joint-use roads etc.)
Representatives of the Executive Board will begin to meet this week with ATV representatives and DCNR concerning the potential increase in the Registration Fee. It is important that all groups have the same information. Facts are important. Everyone (DCNR, ATV, PSSA, and Clubs) involved in this process need to realize costs, income and potential for other income. How can the Registration Fee pay for a state-wide snowmobile program?
The Snowmobile/ATV Advisory Committee (SAAC) will meet on June 2. Time TBD.
Recently, the PSSA Board began to discuss Goals, Objectives (Registration Fee, Clubs, PSSA) – immediate, one-three year, long-term, on-going. Clubs will be given a chance to be involved in these discussions later in the year.
Due to a lack of vendor inventory the PowerSport Show will not happen this year.
PSSA is in the process of sending raffle tickets for the Cash Raffle. The drawing will be held at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, August 24th at 7:00pm. Please note this is the fourth Wednesday in August.
Plans are also being formulated for a raffle similar to last year but also emphasize PA trips in addition to out-of-state trips. Maybe include some gift certificates etc. Send any ideas to Norm Strotman.
The PSSA Board will begin to plan for an Information Meeting for the fall. We held one last year and had good participation.
Have a Safe and Happy Summer!
