Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
I would like to start with a recap of 2023. Our past President, Liz Krug, retired after ten years of dedicated work for PSSA. We would like to thank Liz for all her time and effort and we send best wishes from all of us at PSSA, her snowmobile family!
After the pandemic, we started our in person membership meetings and held a meeting in Altoona. The attendance was better than anticipated following COVID, and the meeting was very productive. We held our Spring Raffle Drawing live during the meeting.
Two rounds of mini grants were awarded to ten different clubs this year! They will be used for trail maintenance, chainsaw and grooming maintenance and the purchase of fuel. Many thanks to Lori Elliott, our Grants Adminstrator, for the time and work in writing the grants.
After determining that MapGears (a trail maps app) is the best trail mapping solution for the state of Pennsylvania, the PSSA Trail Committee is working hard to have it ready for use this snow season. The following article gives the details of our new venture with MapGears. We look forward to the improvements in the snowmobiling experience for Pennsylvania snowmobilers. A very special thanks to the owner of the Zippo Company and his generous support in helping us make MapGears possible.
Our Fall Raffle was a big success as well. PSSA created an incentive to all our clubs by awarding a percentage of the ticket sales. Many thanks to F&S Yamaha for hosting the drawing at their Open House.
The programs we will be working on in 2024 are as follows : The Spring Membership Meeting with the location to be announced, registration increase and we hope to bring the Powersport Show back. With your support in selling raffle tickets, PSSA can help continue to make snowmobiling a great experience in PA.
As I am writing this letter, the snow is coming down in Northwestern PA! Hoping for great things ahead.
Thanks again, Rich Hayes
