Forest Service announces Winter 2020-2021 Snowmobile Update for the Allegheny National Forest
The Willow Creek Snowmobile Club (WCSC) has worked with the Bradford City Water Authority, Collins Pine Company, and Pine Acres Country Club to secure 19 miles of new club trails adjacent to the Forest. These trails will be opening this season and are accessible from trail 1A. More information is available at the WCSC website: https://willowcreeksnomobi.wixsite.com/wcsc/trails.
The ANF has approximately 365 miles of interconnected snowmobile trails and loops, and another 52 miles of trails used for both snowmobiles and ATV/OHMs, when conditions permit. Multiple user groups enjoy the Forest’s trails in the wintertime too, so use caution as you may encounter vehicles, groomers, snowshoers, dog sled teams and cross-country skiers at any time. Please be aware that maintained snowmobile trails will not be groomed until there is a significant amount of snow on the ground.
Trail condition reports will begin when adequate snow is received. Updated twice weekly, or when conditions warrant, snowmobile trail conditions are under the quick link menu at https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/allegheny/recreation/wintersports.

Snowmobile season on State Parks and State Forest Lands begins the day after the end of antlerless deer season and runs to April 1st . See current trail information here.
Riding on State Game Lands, where permitted, begins the third Sunday in January.

Riding on State Lands
Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reminds us that spring, summer and fall are not the only times to enjoy Pennsylvania state parks. Visitors find a surprising number of activities that are best enjoyed in the snowy landscape.
Most parks offer designated snowmobile trails for exploration. Others designate large, open spaces for snowmobiling. State parks also provide trailhead access to snowmobile trails on state forest land. And please remember, in order to ride on State lands:
- A snowmobile must be properly registered with the snowmobile unit in the Bureau of Forestry, DCNR, and have the permit visibly displayed.
- Any youth under the age of 16 MUST have safety certification before they can operate a snowmobile off their parents’ property.
- All riders are required to wear an approved helmet.
- Liability insurance is required.
