Happy Independence Day! It was the first generation of Americans who fought and won freedom for all. Let us give thanks and show our appreciation for all our liberties. July 4, 1776 marks the publication of the “Declaration of Independence”. The rest is part of our rich history. Enjoy the holiday and be safe.
Thank you to all who took the time to contact your state and federal Representatives. The Keystone Fund remains in the budget. The Environmental Fund has been diminished. I will forward any new information concerning both funds to you. We must continue to remain vigilant and keep our Representatives aware of our needs.
Club representatives will receive a Club Data Survey in the next several days. If you are a contact person for your club please answer the questions and return it as soon as possible. We need this information to update our files and determine the attitudes of club members on several topics such as Registration Fee, ATV’s etc. Data speaks in Harrisburg and Washington, DC.
Recently I completed a Trail User Group Survey for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. It basically asked for emerging trends/issues; what are the challenges/deficiencies; what resources/policy decisions are needed. It reminded me of the following questions: What is the goal? What is hindering achieving the goal? What needs to change?
PSSA Board has talked about these issues for years. We need a dedicated fund that is divided equitably between state and club programs. We need to know costs for programs. We need to determine how we will reach our goal. TAKE ACTION!
I shared the above survey with our local representative in Erie (Representative Ryan Bizzarro –D). We need everyone to continue to discuss the issues with local representatives. I also asked for a joint meeting with representatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and PSSA Board representatives.
Enjoy the Summer!
Think Snow!
