A message from the President… |
Hello, everyone! I hope you all are having a great summer. It’s a challenge with these temperatures, for sure. Even with this heat, PSSA is still working hard. All DCNR grant 29.1 submissions have been approved by the PSSA Grants Committee and our Board of Directors, and all the funding requests have been sent on to DCNR for final approval. Once approved, checks will be sent to the clubs for their work to begin. Everyone’s patience is always appreciated. The work for lining up awesome prizes for the PSSA Fall Raffle as well as organizing all the details for the PowerSports Show is in full throttle. This show is an opportunity for clubs to have a booth to promote your club. After having no show for the last few years, we are all getting excited to see everyone again at the new location, the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds, on October 25 – 27th, 2024. At the May 21st, 2024, semiannual meeting of the Snowmobile and ATV Advisory Committee (SAAC), Norm Strotman was voted in as the new Chairperson for this important conduit for issues of the snowmobiling community. After serving many years in excellent leadership, Dr. Jack Clark announced his retirement from this role. Norm was nominated and voted in unanimously by public members of SAAC. As Norm was currently in the role of Vice Chairperson, his new responsibility left that position vacant and Brad Smith, SAAC Public Member representing the Pennsylvania Off Highway Vehicle Association (PAOHV), was nominated and voted in unanimously for this important position. Arline LaTourette was nominated to continue her role as Secretary of SAAC and was voted in as well. These developments position the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association (PSSA) with the tremendous opportunity to continue the strong relationship with the Department of Conservation and opportunities for snowmobilers in our state. As PSSA works tirelessly for the betterment of snowmobiling experiences, our representation on this impactful committee will continue to give us opportunities to be influential in the future. When you see Norm and Brad, take the time to thank them for their willingness to volunteer their time for these very worthy causes! Take care and think snow! Rich Hayes |
